1. Belize. Mayan ruins. Tropical forests. Crystal clear water. Need we say more?
2. Athens, Greece. Shayne insists that Italy is not worth seeing because all the Romans did was steal stuff from the Greeks. I'm biased towards Italy on this one {four months of gelato and cheese in Florence will do that to you}, which ultimately means that...
3. Rome comes in at number three. Because the only way to describe this city is epic.
4. Even though we theoretically just wrapped up talking about Italy, this place is special enough to have it's own spot on the list. Cinque Terre. My pitch for this one is small-town feel, and one of the prettiest hikes I've ever been on. And gelato. Always gelato.
5. Shayne and I spent at least an hour the other day trying to establish what exactly is on the Seven Wonders of the World list. Apparently there's quite a bit of controversy...and more than one list. Who knew?! But this place makes it on at least one, and we're not snobs when it comes to wonders. Plus, we're at elevation, Maccu Picchu is at elevation, hiking there would be a walk in the park!
6. Ireland. Because Frommer's website has a "Best Ruins" list for the country. How. Cool. Is. That.
7. New Zealand. Maybe for a Lords of the Rings tour...maybe not. Just saying.
8. Sticking a little bit closer to home now: Yellowstone National Park. Road trips + National Parks = Fantastic. Someday I'll probably end up posting the photo of Shayne standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon...even though it gives me the heebie jeebies. Don't quite know why I wasn't insisting he wear a rock climbing harness {or tie himself to the railing} at the time.
9. Just because you can't drive to Yellowstone and not include Glacier.
10. And, last, most improbable {if only because of the number of poisonous snakes that reside there}, but certainly not least: Thailand.
That about wraps things up for now. What's on your list of adventures these days?
ttfn,
the mombers
